Editorial: The epic story of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker continues as Link finds himself lost and alone in unknown seas in a new adventure. Featuring intuitive touch-screen controls and innovative puzzles, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass offers new challenges for fans of the series and an easy-to-grasp introduction for gamers new to The Legend of Zelda. But time grows short, and only the Phantom Hourglass can buy Link the minutes he?ll need to survive.
Many months have passed since the events of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Link, Tetra and Tetra?s band of pirates have set sail in search of new lands. They come across a patch of ocean covered in a dense fog, in which they discover an abandoned ship. Tetra falls into danger when she explores the ship alone, and Link falls into the ocean when he attempts to rescue her. When he washes up unconscious on the shores of a mysterious island, he is awakened by the sound of a fairy?s voice. With the aid of this fairy, he sets off to find Tetra ? and his way back to the seas he once knew.
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is controlled almost entirely by the stylus. Using the touch screen, players direct Link?s movements and attacks: A sweeping motion triggers Link?s spin attack and tapping characters makes Link speak with them. The stylus controls offer a more intuitive means of playing the game and open up new possibilities for puzzle solving.
The game action takes place primarily on the touch screen, with a map on the top screen. However, the player can inspect the map on the touch screen and make notes using the stylus. The notes on these maps are saved for review on the top screen during game play. Players use the map to chart courses for their ships, too. Using the stylus to draw a path through the islands, players set their ships? courses. Then, as the ships automatically follow the paths drawn, players can control their ships? cannons to target oncoming enemies.

"ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT - Best DS Game I've Played" - 17 February 2008
As soon as I found out that this was coming out I ordered it even though I was a little sceptical about the 'bird's-eye' view. But it turned out to an absolutely amazing game. The graphics are excellent and so is the gameplay. It is very easy to pick up and play for just a few minutes. I am also a slightly old fashioned gamer in the respect that I have never been too keen on using the touch screen. However, this game makes great use of it and the difficulty level of the game is perfect. I finished it quite quickly simply because I couldn't put it down and I'm thinking about starting it again. This is an outstanding addition to the Zelda series and I recommend to anyone who owns a DS.

"Great for beginners as well as long time gamers!" - 22 February 2008
I just got a Nintendo DS for Xmas and one of the games I got with it was Zelda. I was absolutely addicted! I just finished the game last week and I actually miss it and all of the characters. May I also add at this point that I am 28 years old ... but I totally got into it.
The game itself has so many aspects- puzzle solving, killing bad guys and bosses, travelling in the ship just to mention a few. Even seasoned gamers have spent 48 hours in total on this game (compared to paltry 6/8 hour games on other formats and other DS games).
In short, it is a totally addictive, excellent game with lots for everyone. I just wish that other DS games were so high quality!

"Can't Stop Playing It" - 11 March 2008
Controls - Amazing
Gameplay - Amazing
Everything else - Amazing
Best game I've ever played, and it is incredible fun, you continue from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and have to catch the ghost ship, won't tell you why, you can find out yourself if you get the game, but it is incredibly addicitve, and it is really cheap at the moment.
BUY IT!

"Truly Fantastic!" - 27 March 2008
I was a little sceptical about purchasing this game for the DS having never really played any Zelda games before but I went ahead and tried it. Now, I am actually addicted, it truly is amazing! It is by far the best DS game I have ever played. The controls and use of the DS touch screen is brilliant, everything is controlled with the stylus and there are so many puzzles that are not too challenging yet very innovative and just great. Definitely worth buying!

"AMAZING! " - 6 February 2008
I started playing this game in December 2007 and finished it on Sunday and I too am getting withdrawals. It is an amazing game, so addictive! I got so frustrated when I got stuck on the bosses and could not defeat them! It is like you are in another world when you are playing, you just lose track of time! My boyfriend was starting to get very jealous of all the time that I was spending playing on the game, I think I neglected him! I really hope they bring another game out soon, because it was the best ever! So easy to use and great graphics. However I did cheat, as I would never have been able to complete it without the walkthrough, it was my godsend!

"AMAZING!!! best game on DS!!" - 6 February 2008
I'm 11 years old (using mum's account) and I can honestly say that this is the BEST game I've ever played. I love the cel-shaded graphics which, when you consider the nature of the handheld, are really impressive. The plot is deep and the controls run so smoothly it's like the stylus is glued to your finger. I love all the things you can do at sea and, in my opinion, nothing will ever match the thrill of finding a new island at sea. The boss battles are well done and the mechanics rewarding. With all the extra islands, fishing, salvaging and customizing your trusty vessel,Zelda is a deep, addictive adventure. However, as some of the puzzles are really tough, I would say that people age 10+ would probably get the most out of it.

Am gutted that its over, i have withdrawals!! excellent use of all ds functions, challenging quests, riddles AND kill the baddies with gurt big sword and other treats you pick up along the way.
love that it not dictated to you where you go next in the game, there are mini quests, games etc to amuse along the way, so one persons game is different to the next depending on what you think you should do next.

"The Best Game For DS" - 22 January 2008
The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a magnificent game that truly lives up to the Zelda name.
First off you cannot help but be taken by the graphics, they are simply mind-blowing for such a console, stylised and impressive in many ways.
Control is fantastic and you never feel like you can't control Link, or have any difficulty performing moves, overall presentation is very well done, as you would expect from Nintendo. the story and graphics combine to create what is easily the best experience on the DS, taking advantage of many features of the DS, and using them to some potential.
Overall an absolute beauty for the DS

"Here's hoping there will be more Zelda games. " - 12 January 2008
After my GBA met it's sorry fate at the hands of my younger brother, I've been mourning the complete lack of Zelda, but finally, I received this with a DS for my birthday and have been addicted since.
It makes novel use of the upper screen, allowing you to scrawl notes to yourself, or, in my case, draw random smiley faces when I should really be marking out dungeon traps! And making notes is an important part of the game, because at certain points if you don't do something in the exact way it tells you, it won't work - getting through the fog in your ship for example.
It does have a very smooth and easy learning curve, and is, in the grand scheme of things, a fairly easy game to play, though it does have the most frustrating mini-game to date. The arrow-shooting mini-game is ranked top of moments you get so frustrated you want to throw your DS at the wall. I warn you now, be prepared for a whole lot of cursing.
The other mini-games are much kinder to you, and add up with the main quest to make a very enjoyable game. And it's suitable for adults and younger children alike, as my 8 year old brother is playing it with as much ease as I can, at 21. And he certainly enjoyed using the mic to yell at certain monsters to scare them so he could go in and attack them.
But yes, all in all a very good game and highly recommended. Here's to hoping it won't be too long before another Zelda game.

"Great game for all ages" - 8 January 2008
The first Zelda title released on the DS has taken it's time to come out but it's been worth the wait. It fully utilises the touch screen capabilities of the handheld, as well as integrating the use of the microphone in certain parts of the game to give a great gaming experience. The level of difficulty builds very gradually and the controls are simple enough with the stylus.
One of the best features of the gameplay on a DS is the use of the touch screen, you can do markings on maps as you work your way through dungeons and islands. This is particularly helpful remembering where treasure chests are and switches that have to be turned in a certain order. On top of that, you can do quick shortcuts to certain sectors of the world map you have that allows you to save time on travelling unnecessary distances on your ship, so marking those spots are essential.
Each part of the game introduces you to something slightly new in the gameplay, whether it be a new weapon or obstacles to tackle. The variation you go through as you explore more of the world is extremely enjoyable and there are always things you need to go back for as you can utilise more skills, eg. a certain wall may need to be bombed to access a new room or treasure chest. You can also customise the ship you explore on with different parts as you collect more in several ways, eg. through battles or completing objectives.
The only downside to this game is the repetition in going through one of the dungeons over and over again. But once again some of it is worth doing as you can pick up more items with new skills/ weapons. It should be noted though that some of the puzzles and objectives you have to complete are a bit challenging, and gives enough satisfaction when you get through it.
Overall, the graphics are good, the storyline is easy to pick up and get into and it will definitely be worth getting this game for some fun filled hours. This is definitely one of the best games you can find on the DS at the moment!!
