5 out of 5  "Great Brain Workout -- and VERY fun too! " - 30 October 2007
Got this for the kids together with Brain Training. From the childish graphics, I assumed this would be too easy, but I was wrong :-)

I love the great variety of games and activities and how challenging they are. Though I also enjoy Brain Training, I prefer Brain Academy because of the variety of activities provided.

Ideally, you should get both ;)
Big fun for the whole family!

5 out of 5  "addictive for adults or kids" - 1 November 2007
I got my DS as a treat for my hols & really fancied the puzzles rather than midless gaming.
It stores several peoples scores so you can share it with family members or mates & see who is the "brainiest" amoung you...its quite addictive & competition can soon break out as everyone wants to increase their score. I definitely wouldnt say its easy to complete & after a few goes you will have "completed it all"...I have played with this an awful lot & getting gold medals in the different categories is no mean feet....its very interesting to see how different each persons brain works...some of the tasks i am brilliant at & some i just cant do properly no matter how hard i train!
this is great fun for adults & children alike...definitely i would recommend it

4 out of 5  "Big Brain Academy" - 1 December 2007
I really enjoyed this game and know that it is suitable for most ages. The game is fun, competitive and educational. Play against your family and friends even if they don't have the game. The five catagories help determine what type of brain you have. A web graph indicates your level in each catagory. Overall, this game is hours of fun.

5 out of 5  "Challenging and fun" - 3 January 2008
I have this game as well as Brain Training (first one), and would say that overall, this game is more challenging and probably the better out of the two.

After getting gold medals in every catagory, I then discovered that there's a platinem metal to be won too, which restarted the challenge again, and after 3 months, I'm still enjoying it!

The "test" is much harder than on braintraining (I got aged 20 on my first attempt of braintraining and found it far too easy, with nothing to benchmark and improve on), and it requires you to perform well in all 5 categories. After weeks of getting C+ and B-, I've finally got an A, although I believe there might be an A+ too, so I'm still trying.

The only downside is that after a test, it doesn't show you individual scores in each category, so you don't know how close this was to your practice score.

I would recommend this to anyone who finds the first braintraining game too easy.

4 out of 5  "not really childish" - 8 January 2008
I thought this was going to be childish but some of the training puzzles are really difficult.

Rather than just set maths puzzles this concentrates on the different 5 regions of brain use. It gives you more of an idea about what you need to work on.

I really like this, it's enjoyable to use and you can see your development improving (or decreasing) as you get more practice.

5 out of 5  "Great game - great learning" - 29 January 2008
Big brain academy is a great game! There are 5 different categories and 3 different games in each category. In each game there are 3 different levels, so there is a lot to choose from! There are 4 different medals that you can get, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. If your friend has the same game, you can do versus, where you compete against each other. Then the test tells you how much your brain weighs. I would definitely reccommend this game to anyone!

3 out of 5  "Nowhere near as much fun as it is on the Wii!" - 7 February 2008
Should be stated in the description that it is a USA version. One of the games features American coins, which was a bit of a disappointment. Graphics not great either, but overall OK?!

3 out of 5  "Good fun but gets tedious after a while" - 13 February 2008
Having done Brain Training I thought I'd give this a go. The exercises are good fun and I like that fact that it focuses on memory, thinking, calucating etc..... so testing different skills. I've enjoyed playing the games, but now I've got all my gold medals I feel a bit let down as there are no new challenges, unlike Brain Training, and I've only had it a couple of weeks. And as some other reviewers have said it gets tedious as you keep getting the same old tests. I would recommend it, but it would be nice if there were some extras. I need to try playing in link mode perhaps that will rekindle my enthusiasm.

3 out of 5  "A nice brain training game, but if you want the real deal stick with Dr Kawashima on this one" - 10 September 2007
Since the Ds has become one of the fastest selling game systems ever developers have gotton crazy over this "Casual gaming" malarky and started creating games for the casual gamers who play games for less than 15 minutes at a time. With brain training games no exception to this new movement.

Well the tasks are more colurful and easier on the eye than the Dr.Kawashima counterparts but not as well executed. If you want some proper brain starting games, then get the Dr's games as they are superior in most respects.

4 out of 5  "Big Brain Academy-Big On Fun" - 19 July 2007
Big Brain Academy Is Not Your Normal Type Of Game. Unlike Other games You Do Not Have Levels And Storylines, instead Big Brain Academy stimulates your brain with challenges which stretch your intelligence, , doesn't sound fun does it? believe me, it is!

Big Brain Academy Is Designed to Test Your Brain And Increase Your Intelligence. Big Brain Academy tests you in five different areas; Think, Memory, Analyse, Compute and Identify. Each are has three different games which tests your intelligence.

There are three play options in Big Brain Academy; test, practic eand vs. In test Big Brain Academy tests your intelligence and how much your brain's improved. Your are tested in all five areas and one game from the area is picked at random. After you have completed the test you will be given a brainweight (the heavier the better), a ranking (A to F, with A being the best) and it also says what type of brain you have. In practice yuo can chose what area you want to play in and what game you want to play. you are given a brain weight for that area and a medal (determing how big your wight is, the medals range from bronze to gold with gold being the best) the highest scores are then safed.. In vs. you can connect your ds with other people's ds and see who is the most intelligent, and best of all you only need one copy of the game.

This game is very entertaining and fun, but some games are much better than others and you cant play this game all the time as you will get bored that way, it's aimed more at the casual gamers. The games do after a while get boring, but if you leave it while and play on it again you will not find them so boring. I highly recommend this game, but it's not for everyone.
