Editorial: Far Cry 2 finds you caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa. You're sent to take out "The Jackal," a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfill your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force. Built specifically for Far Cry 2 by the award-winning Ubisoft Montreal development team, the Dunia Engine delivers the most realistic destructible environments, special effects, such as dynamic fire propagation and storm effects, real-time night-and-day cycle, dynamic music system and non-scripted enemy A.I. You can explore 50 kilometers of rendered African landscape. Far Cry 2 also boasts real-time immersion. Real-time story telling, systemic auto-healing, and minimal in-game interface are just few of the features that will make you feel the tension of being alone against barbarous warlords that threaten thousands of innocent lives. With your choice of a wide selection of weapons, you'll meet the fight head-on with your machine-gun, go berserk with your machete, or make stealth kills as a sniper. If you feel that the atmosphere is not warm enough, light up your flame-thrower and let your enemies and everything around them feel the heat. With your glider, trucks, cars, and boats, you'll fly, run, drive, slide and hover over this huge open world |

"YET ANOTHER RIDICULOUS REVIEW OF A GAME NOT YET RELEASED!" - 2 April 2008
Like all the other reviewers here, I haven't actually played this game yet. This is because it has not yet been released.
However, in my minds eye I have pictured it, and it looked very good. I even drew some pictures of the screens, but my crayons broke before I could complete them. Sound quality was a bit iffy though.
Why Amazon allow people to review games that haven't yet been released is as unfathomable as why people review games that have not yet been released.

"A Review of the Reviews" - 24 June 2008
I would like to say that I think the reviews of this game are fantastic, I give them all 5 stars, (game not available for comment). The typing is fantastic and made for some good reading. Awesome job. Amazon, sort this farse out once and for all. do not let people write a review of a game, book, cd, or any other item until it is on sale....it just makes you look a bit **** and to be honest makes me sad.

"did You Know???" - 5 June 2008
Marsupials are mammals in which the female typically has a pouch (called the marsupium, from which the name 'Marsupial' derives) in which it rears its young through early infancy. Fossil evidence, first announced by researcher M.J. Spechtt in 1982, does not support the once-common belief that marsupials were a primitive forerunner of the placental mammals: both main branches of the mammal tree appear to have evolved at around the same time, toward the end of the Mesozoic era. The earliest known marsupial is Sinodelphys szalayi, which lived around 125 million years ago. It was discovered in China and is of an age similar to the earliest placental fossils, which have been found in the same area. Thats why you should buy farcry 2.

"Fortune teller Rose Lee writes..." - 25 June 2008
Now, sit down, dearie. Cup of tea? No? Suit yourself, but sometimes the tealeaves are just as good at predicting the future as the pre-release reviews on Amazon by people who've never played the game, if not better. Now then, there I go, where were we?
Oh yes. Cross my palm with silver and we'll see...oh, now. Far Cry two, you say. Well, I see you'll go on a long journey, meet a lot of people and shoot at them.
What's that? You think I'm a charlatan and I don't know what I'm saying? The crystal ball never lies, dearie. Lucky white heather? Clothes peg or two? No?
What else are the spirits saying, now. Eeeh, it's a bit misty...I'm getting the letters 'FC' and then number '2'. Does that mean anything to you? No, come back, I'm sure I'm getting something...
What's that you say? You'll wait until the game actually comes out before writing a review? That's a bit extreme, isn't it, dearie? I mean, nobody else does...

"What a load of TOSH" - 1 May 2008
The reviews that is. I wonder if this review will get through without any stars assigned ? How people can review something that has not been released yet is beyond me. Even if there were a demo available, what looks really good in the demo could only be one minute less than the entire game, in which case the game would be crap.
I think this whole situation came about because Amazon used to offer prizes for the first review of an item, therefore a culture was developed of "have the first word" regardless of the quality.
If this "review" (though I guess it's a review review) isn't posted, I just hope that it is at least read by another human at Amazon, and that they put an end to all this rubbish. I look forward to actually seeing the game (Farcry 1 was pretty good) but the reviews being posted are getting less and less helpful, burying any actually insightful reviews in a ton of regurgitated marketting blurb.

"Time traveller from the future reviews past's games pre release" - 10 April 2008
Hello, I have traveled back in time from 2421 to review this game.
The graphics are limited, as they are not injected directly into you neocortical implant, neither is the sound. There is no smell/taste or tactile content to the game at all, and it requires strange manual devices for input. To top it all off the AI is seriously under-par, and totally incapable of holding a decent conversation.

"Flipping Ain't Released. Can't Review Yet 2" - 13 May 2008
..is what Far Cry 2 stands for. I've rated it a 3 because it might be good, it might not. Wish me luck. This review didn't make it last time ;-)

"Revolutionary" - 30 June 2008
As a big fan of the first game I was initially a little disappointed with the new overhead 2D view and somewhat limited game area. The minimalist maze is certainly different from the lush jungle environs of the first. Graphically, first impressions are that its maybe even gone backwards a bit, but this is presumably a next-gen engine they are using so this must be the future and our eyes will adapt. Jack Carver has become a round blob with a big mouth, and evidently can't keep still so the pause button is very handy. The lack of a weapon was disconcerting until I discovered that eating the big pills meant the ghosts turned a funny colour and could be eaten too. I'm sure there's a gun lying around somewhere. Can't wait for the third one, heard rumours they are considering a skyscraper/platform setting with a new guy Mario and an oversized gorilla.

"carrots are not the only fruit " - 30 May 2008
Another reviewer has said that Far Cry 26 is the best in the series. This I have to disagree with. After the interdimensional red rabbits attacked and took over the world in the year 2089, Far Cry took a real down turn. As with all pc games as the rabbit overlords ended our addiction to technology by introducing a revamped spinning wheel policy, humanity now resides underground in warren-like structures. Who would have thought that space rabbits had such a sense of irony. Anyway, as you may or may not be aware smoking causes premature ageing of the skin and i own a cat. Hope this is as helpful as the rest of the reviews: i too have a dream.....

"Far Cry 2" - 30 January 2008
If you want a game where enemies are so realistic as to move exactly the same as real people would, to try ruthlessly to do whatever it takes to make sure your character eats led by using advanced tactics such as running you over, to make you use the immensely dense environment (especialy the jungle) to ambush them from behind. And clever enemies that work together to cause chaos in the midst of a battle which make shooting things, not.. so.. simple, anymore. Then buy Far Cry2. Hey, With enemies like that, who needs multiplayer? (not saying it doesn't have multiplayer).
I'd put this game into the category of Survival FPS; not only is this game full of explosions and brutal killing sprees but to do all of that you have to keep your weapons maintained to peek performance, find health packs and utilize your geographical skills to plan your way through everthing. It's a massive map! Covering 50km!!! So it's good to use your high ground and observe everything before you go in. The setting is in Africa, so if that's your perfect warzone then expect all the foliage of a jungle and all the dust and shine of a desert, (not many games are set there!). Environment seems alive and breathing with wild antelope running freely through each map, and trees that actually burn through stages!! Amongst other things ofcourse like high definition background sound and effects, fully destructible environments and also chickens you get to pick up and then... well, you can decide what happens next. Oh, and the lighting I forgot to mention the perfect lighting! It really is! You see shading on everything and like Crysis it uses very good soft-shading for let's say bush shadows, just to add density and, ofcourse realism. It's so good that even your own character's machete catches some rays. Overall this game is completely free roaming and uses extremely realistic graphics to completely utilise the very best attributes of an FPS. And who cares if there are missions 'cause quite frankly, you'd probably lose interest. I give the game 5 stars.
