Editorial: Retaining the same aims and objectives that have underpinned the series to date, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 nonetheless is a solid evolution for the franchise. And it doesn't hurt that it happens to be one of the most friendly, open and accessible management games on the PC platform. The aim remains to build up a winning theme park, with a special emphasis on building and designing its premium rides. And this is where the game's most obvious improvement kicks in. Whilst its predecessors were undoubtedly engrossing and enjoyable strategy games in their own right, neither was graphically anything special. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 however features significantly improved visuals, that make a surprising difference to the game itself. That's because you're now able to get virtual first-hand experience of your creations, and can zoom in on any part of your park, and the overall effect is one of added depth. Elsewhere, the challenges have been tweaked and refined, and are just as much fun as they always were. Whilst you can play at different levels, the long-term test lies with the career mode, where you must beat the numerous scenarios the game has to offer. Suffice to say, to succeed at that you need to be fully versed in resource management, park design and, crucially, keeping your customers happy. It's not easy, but it is tremendously immersive, and given the game's steady and cultured learning curve, you never feel out of your depth. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is ultimately a steady evolution of a formula that works exceptionally well, and it does so here again. Sure, the mechanics have evolved at a slower rate than the visuals, but that doesn't stop the game being that rarest of things--a strategy game that the whole family can enjoy.--Simon Brew |

"It was well worth the wait!" - 10 April 2005
I could not wait for this brilliant game to come out. I got it at xmas, and was addicted straight away! It's not just riding the rides (which is fab-u-lous!) that makes this game the best, it's the better graphics, the peeps are different, and you can design your own! And there's themes, new rides, new music, you can add your own music, photos of your peep group are saved, including ride photos! It certainly beats the first two RCT games, though i still love them! But this is, by far, the best!

"Ummmmmmmmmm!! Interesting" - 19 April 2005
This game is much, much better than the previous couple of rollercoaster tycoon games. I had a lot more enjoyment and i was on it all the time (that may sound a little sad). There are loads more rollercoaters and shops and the fireworks are great. A huge variety of different people come to your park. It is way more fun and challenging. I certainly recommend it!

"Good but lots of bugs" - 5 February 2005
A very good sequel, but the early copies are nearly unplayable without the two patches frontier since released for it.Not a big deal, becasue its still a great game - the patchs only take a few mins to d/l. The game has lots of ideas and looks great, but will run slowly without a good video card. Anyone used to playing only console games might be a bit surprised initially by the unfinshed feel of the game, but as long as you accept this, and check the system specs carefully, its well worth buying.

"A must for all RCT tycoon fans" - 29 December 2004
If you have played previous versions of RCT then this is a must, in RCT3 you have a dramatic 3D effect! This is a big jump from the other two versions! (RCT1 & RCT2). The developers have done a fantastic job. But of course you need a very high spec PC for the game to run smooth! CoasterCam as it is known is the key for the game, you can actually ride the coasters that you make, this is great to see your creations as you ride them. If you think they are too fast or intense, then your guests are going to think so too. Also improved from the other two versions is that the amount of things you can change is so much, alot more than the other two versions! No game is the same (EVER!) In short, get this game, it will have you amused for hours! Anyway i'm going to try and get some sleep now, buy now!!!!!

"Another great game!" - 9 August 2005
Chris Sawyer is a great game maker, Transport Tycoon Deluxe! one of the greatest, Roller Coaster Tycoon, + all expansions, showed up the likes of EA, how to make a Theme Park game. Realistic physics, and great graphics and animation, RCT2, same graphics, improved game engine, and massivly addictive!and just as you thought it couldn't get better, IT DOES! RCT3 sees the great Chris Sawyers "Tycoon" games go 3D! same great gameplay, same realistic physics, but in 3D! for years I have been wanting to get the "persons veiw" of what the Rollercoasters I build look like, not just see it from a Isometric view. RCT3, not only allows you to build a great theme park, not only allows you to make brilliant Rides, not only allows you unlimited funds to build your dream park, not only allows you to import your old RCT2 Rollers, but also allows you to walk your park as a guest, ride the rides as a guest, allows you to see your perfect park, as if you were actually there! A true master peice, I am looking forward to how they could possibly make it better! I lost my original copy of this game, now I am buying it again! that is how much I love it!

"WOW - Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!" - 15 August 2005
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is stunning! Everything about it is much better than other 2 in the series. For example, there are a variety of guests, there is the fantastic 'coaster cam', the rides are 20 times better with lots more of them, the shops are fantastic as they follow the different themes and there are the brilliant fireworks. Also, you can have the park at night! The game is superb and is certaintly worth a look in! If anyone says it is bad, ignore them as this is the greatest!

"hmmm" - 2 December 2005
This is a good, fun game, but... if you have Roller Coaster Tycoon (1) you are inclined to think, is that it. However for a 1st timer its great so if you haven't experienced RCT before go for it!!!

"Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 + Expansion Pack 'Soaked' review" - 24 December 2005
This game takes a bit of getting used to if you are familiar with the first two additions, but after a while and once you get into it it becomes very realistic and good. I especially like the 'Coaster Cam' where you can view your rides from the people's perspectives and ride your very own roller coasters, but I also think that if you could zoom in then it would be a lot better so that you can see things nearer. The people are so much more realistic and they wait for their groups and travel together etc. Overall I think it's a great buy so I would give it at least 4.5 stars if not 5!!!

"Wow!" - 28 March 2007
At time of purchase of RCT3 i was presently supprised with how good the game looked, in comparision to its earlier version RCT2, and to many other games i own. The graphic are the main feature of this game, and was pleased to say, done very well.
However, the reason for not giving it 5 stars is due to the fact that Atari have spent to long on the graphics and not on the gameplay. There are many bugs in the game (only really fixed by the addon packs; more money). The game actually features less rides than RCT2, and does not have the abbility of customising allready made parks (like Six Flags), which was a nice feature to RCT2.
However, saying that RCT3 offers hours of gameplay and enjoyment. A must have, but be prepared to spend money on at least one of the addon packs.
